Worst hotel I've experienced in years.

We stayed two nights at this hotel in April 2024 while on a UK tour, which included 4 star hotels. When we checked in, there was no hot water in the room. The hotel's excuse was that too many people were taking a shower at the same time (this was at 5PM!!). We were moved to another room which did have hot water. After returning from the evening outing, I pulled back the bed sheets to find a large greyish stain on the bottom sheet. The telephone was not working so I had to dress and go downstairs to ask that the bedding be replaced. While staff were removing the bedding, I noticed a large blood-soaked stain on the mattress pad under the stained sheet. After staff replaced the bedding and left the room, I turned down the sheets again, only to find what appeared to be lipstick stains on the duvet cover. I left a note on the bed in the morning for the housekeeping manager, asking if this is what Holiday Inn considers clean bedding, but received no response. I notified the tour director, who said he would bring this unacceptable situation to the hotel's attention, but again I received no response from the hotel. A simple sorry from frontline staff is not sufficient. Housekeeping standards appear to be non-existent at this location, and I can only describe this place as a dump!

Old and tired and not close to the city centre

Our group of 40 stayed here for 2 nights. I would not recommend it. First of all, it is in the boondocks of Edinburgh - a good 20-25 minutes from the centre of town where all of the sights are. The hotel is very old and tired looking. It really needs an upgrade. It is also huge and very busy. The beds were small but fairly comfortable. The shower was difficult to figure out. The only positive aspect is that the food in the dining room is excellent. There is a huge menu to choose from for dinner - I had a veggie curry that was delicious. The breakfast buffet was also good. If you are going to Edinburgh, I would recommend finding not only a better hotel but one that is much closer to the city centre.

Really pleasantly surprised this hotel has everything from amazing staff , great rooms with free wifi and cromcast , excellent facilities like the bar , restaurant and swimming pool and a fantastic bus service right outside the door, I will definitely stay again as we so enjoyed our stay I can not recommend this hotel more it's amazing xxx

We visited the holiday inn recently as a family! Location was fantastic not far into Edinburgh and right next to the zoo. Reception were friendly rooms clean. The young well built guy cleaning carpets in the corridor was brilliant he helped us with our luggage he could see that we were struggling didn't get his name. Food in restaurant was average but overall was ok. Would definitely stay again.

Had a serviceable stay here. Great location, situated a stone's throw from the Zoo and easily accessible by regular buses to and from the city. Room was a fine size. Beds were comfy, blackout curtains did a great job, and shower pressure was good. Staff were overall friendly and helpful. A few things that felt 'budget' and kept me from rating 4/5 - the WiFi connection was poor throughout our stay, the toilet paper was very thin (bleh!), and breakfast quality was variable. Two mornings were fine, but one morning served truly awful black pudding, grey bacon, and thick, rubbery fried eggs with a nasty skin. I left most of it on my plate, it was that bad. The lack of central lighting in the bedroom was also strange, as we only had a lamp over each twin bed, a small desk light, and an overhead light in the hallway. This is presumably a cost-saving measure, but it's not one I've seen before and it meant the room was quite dark in the evenings.
